AUTOEXPO Kenya 2026 Opens in Nairobi as East Africa’s Automotive Industry Converges

Nairobi has once again become the centre of East Africa’s automotive industry as AUTOEXPO Kenya 2026 officially opens its doors today, bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, transport operators, and automotive technology companies from across the globe.

The three-day exhibition, running from June 3 to June 5 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), is widely regarded as East Africa’s largest international automotive trade exhibition. Organizers say the event has attracted more than 260 exhibitors from over 30 countries, showcasing more than 10,000 products and solutions spanning the automotive and transport sectors.

This year’s edition arrives at a pivotal moment for the region’s automotive market. Demand for commercial transport solutions, vehicle maintenance services, spare parts, fleet management technologies, and electric mobility solutions continues to grow as economies across East and Central Africa expand.

According to event organizers, AUTOEXPO remains “the premier automotive event in East Africa” and is increasingly being used by global manufacturers and exporters as a gateway to African markets. The exhibition brings together suppliers of passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, buses, spare parts, tyres, batteries, lubricants, garage equipment, workshop tools, and emerging automotive technologies.

One of the major talking points this year is expected to be the growing presence of electric mobility solutions. Exhibitors are showcasing electric and hybrid vehicles alongside charging technologies and fleet electrification solutions, reflecting increasing interest in sustainable transport across the region. Organizers note that the exhibition is also running alongside complementary industrial events, creating opportunities for cross-sector partnerships involving manufacturing, engineering, and mobility technologies.

For Kenya, the exhibition’s significance extends beyond the automotive sector itself. International companies continue to view Nairobi as a strategic hub for accessing regional markets including Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a result, many of the discussions taking place during the exhibition are expected to focus on distribution networks, dealership agreements, aftermarket support, and regional supply chains.

The exhibition is also highlighting the strength of Kenya’s automotive aftermarket industry, which remains one of the largest in East Africa. Suppliers of filters, braking systems, lubricants, tyres, workshop equipment, and vehicle accessories are among the hundreds of exhibitors seeking to connect with importers, wholesalers, and fleet operators attending the event.

Organizers project attendance by more than 5,500 trade visitors, underscoring the event’s growing role as a business platform rather than simply a vehicle showcase. For industry players, AUTOEXPO has become a key venue for launching products, identifying suppliers, exploring partnerships, and gaining insights into the trends shaping the future of mobility in Africa.

As the exhibition gets underway in Nairobi, the message from exhibitors is clear: East Africa is no longer viewed merely as an emerging automotive market but as one of the continent’s most promising destinations for investment, innovation, and long-term growth in the transport sector.

For car buyers, dealers, and automotive businesses looking to stay ahead of industry trends, AUTOEXPO Kenya 2026 offers a rare opportunity to see the technologies, products, and partnerships that could shape the next chapter of East Africa’s automotive market.
